At Edco Supply Corporation, we specialize in protective packaging that prevents your products from being damaged. We have packaging that protects against moisture, others that prevent corrosion and mold, and much more. Among these products, we have desiccant packs. Desiccant packs work by absorbing moisture, odors, and chemicals from the air. As a result, they control moisture exposure and prevent rust, mold, and mildew.
Whether we realize or not, we’ve all come in contact with desiccant packs at one point or another. This is because almost every industry can benefit from these packets. For instance, you may have received a small bag with desiccants when you ordered food to be delivered to your house.
Most of the time, we don’t pay attention to these bags. Instead, we throw them away with the box in which they arrived. Since they can be used in so many different ways, we want to point out that they can be reused. That means when you purchase desiccant packs from Edco, you can keep using them until they expire.
After multiple uses, the silica gels that absorbed the moisture may go from being in an active state to being inactive. When this happens, they just need to be reactivated so that they can be used again. To do so, you can pour the gel beads onto a baking sheet; make sure they’re spread out in a thin layer. Then, bake the beads for 15 minutes at 175 degrees Fahrenheit. This will draw the moisture out of the bags and reactivate them. Next, place them in plastic bags to keep them away from moisture. They are now ready to be used again.
The great thing about desiccant packs is that they can be used multiple times. For more information about our products, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
