As humans, we’re exposed to many different things that can harm our bodies.  For instance, in today’s world, there’s a lot of contamination.  Even if we’re not contributing to it, we’re exposed to it in our daily lives, which can have negative health effects.  Another one of the threats is mold.  Mold is a type of fungus that consists of small organisms that can be found almost everywhere.  Since it’s so common, most of us are exposed to mold every day and don’t even know it.

There’s an important thing to point out.  Although we’re exposed to it all the time, we don’t usually consume it – not on purpose at least.  When you consume it, that’s when problems can occur.  If you do consume it, you may have an allergic reaction or respiratory problems.  As a result, you may experience nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, cough, skin irritation, or even nausea.  The worst case scenario is that you eat a mold that’s producing a poisonous substance called mycotoxin.  This substance can lead to further health complications.

Although you probably won’t die from eating mold, it’s best if you keep away from it.  To understand how to keep your food mold-free, we first have to know what causes mold.  The answer to this is moisture.  This is because any food that contains water or fluid is susceptible to mold.  This doesn’t mean that the food has to be drenched in water; it can also mean that it was exposed to a damp environment.

This is where we come in.  At Edco Supply Corporation, we supply protective packaging so that your food is protected from humidity.  We have two protective packaging products that are great at protecting your food items against moisture: desiccant packs and moisture barrier bags.  Our desiccant packs and moisture barrier bags come in different sizes, depending on what you need.
